Inlays and Onlays in East Vancouver

Inlays and Onlays

If your teeth have been damaged or decayed, your dentist may recommend using inlays and onlays to restore the damaged area. These restorations are ideal for areas that are larger than a typical filling but small enough to save the natural tooth.

What Are Inlays and Onlays?

Inlays and onlays are single solid pieces that are fabricated in the dental lab. They can be made from a variety of materials, including composite resin, porcelain, and ceramics. Your dentist will ensure your inlays or onlays are colour-matched to your existing teeth.

Do I Need an Inlay, Onlay, Or Crown?

Inlays and onlays are ideal in situations where only a small portion of the tooth is damaged. If the damage affects the area between the cusps of the teeth your dentist will fill it using an inlay. If, however, the damage affects a single cusp, your dentist will restore it using an onlay. When the damage extends to more than one cusp, your dentist may recommend using a dental crown instead.
